Transgender Caucus; Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Lobby on Texas Independence Day; Reps. Naishtat, Farrar Show Support

March 2nd marks Texas Independence Day.  It also marks Transgender Caucus and GBLT Lobby Day at the Capitol.  These people are here to support giving Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender persons special rights and possibly violate the conscience of religious and faith-based organizations, businesses and churches.  Their group of approximately 100 held a breakfast this morning at First United Methodist Church (downtown Austin). and a press conference and rally at the Capitol.  Rep. Elliot Naishtat (Austin-D) and Rep. Jessica Farrar (Houston-D) gave supportive remarks to this group. One bill they are supporting is HB 538 (Rep. Villareal, San Antonio-D), which creates special rights for GLBT persons and could force religious and faith-based organizations, businesses and churches to violate their creeds and conscience if they disagree with the GLBT lifestyle choice.
