Today, over 8,000 Texans rallied at the Capitol for Rev. Franklin Graham’s Decision America Tour. Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and many other state elected officials joined the rally where Graham urged Christians to exercise their faith at home, in public, and in the upcoming elections.
Rev. Graham, the son of evangelist Billy Graham, specifically encouraged attendees to pledge “to pray fervently and faithfully for America,” “be registered and to vote in every election—local, state, and federal—supporting, where possible, candidates who uphold biblical principles,” and “engage in [their] community with God’s truth and prayerfully consider running for office.”
Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values stated, “This is a historic day in Texas. Our faith is being attacked and challenged like never before by out of control government officials and people who want to redefine religious freedom. Today we are choosing to humble our hearts before God and committing to pray for our state and our nation. We are choosing to boldly exercise our faith freely in private and in public, a right given to us by God and in our state and national constitutions. We are encouraged so many Texans have come from all over the state to stand, pray, and commit to vote their values in this critical hour.”
The Decision America Tour with Franklin Graham began earlier this year and Texas hosted the most attendees of the 17 states Rev. Graham has toured so far. 7,000 people gathered in South Carolina, over 6,500 people in Mississippi, and over 5,000 in Arkansas. Rev. Graham will go to all 50 state capitols by the end of the year. Texas Values President, Jonathan Saenz, Esq. is part of the leadership team hosting the event and is available for comment.
